CALL FOR IAG NOMINATIONS - IAG Council

Dear Members,

Just a reminder please:

At the General Meeting in Armidale, University of New England, at the IAG Conference, IAG Vice-President (President Elect) Professor Jennifer Carter will become IAG President and Professor Robyn Bartel will become Vice President (Immediate Past President).

The role of Vice-President (President Elect) will fall vacant, as Professor Beverley Clarke (Immediate Past President) leaves the role at the conclusion of the term.

The position of Honorary Treasurer will fall vacant. Dr Paul McFarland is eligible to stand for re-election.

The position of Honorary Secretary will fall vacant. Dr Kirsten Martinus is resigning from the position, having served one term.

The position of Honorary Membership Secretary will fall vacant. Dr Charishma Ratnam is resigning from the position, having served one term.

Three Councillor positions will fall vacant. Dr Clare Mouat (elected in 2020) and Dr Michele Lobo (elected in 2020) are eligible to stand for re-election, having served one term each. Dr Catherine Phillips (elected in 2018 and 2020), is ineligible to stand for re-election as a Councillor, having served the maximum two terms.

The position of Postgraduate member will fall vacant. Ms Victoria Radnell (elected in 2020) is eligible to stand for re-election, having served one term.

The positions of Honorary Editor of the Journal (Professor Elaine Stratford) and Honorary Communications Editor (Dr Meg Sherval) are Council appointments.

Financial members of the Institute are therefore invited to nominate candidates for the following positions:

  • Vice-President (President Elect)
  • Honorary Treasurer
  • Honorary Secretary
  • Honorary Membership Secretary
  • Three Councillors 
  • One Postgraduate Student Councillor 

Elected councillors, including the Postgraduate Councillor, will hold office until the second succeeding General Meeting following their election, which is normally two years. They shall be eligible for immediate re-election as Councillors but with a maximum period of continuous office up to the fourth succeeding General Meeting after their initial election.

The President shall hold office until the second succeeding General Meeting, and shall not be eligible for immediate re-election. The Vice-Presidents shall hold office until the second succeeding General Meeting after their election.

The Honorary Secretary, the Honorary Treasurer and the Honorary Membership Secretary shall hold office until the second General Meeting after their election, and shall be eligible for immediate re-election to office.

The closing date for nominations is Monday May 9th, 2022.  Nominations must be received in writing using the form attached and found IAG Council Member nomination form, and should be emailed to Professor Beverley Clarke (Vice President, Immediate Past President), who will be the Returning Officer, at beverley.clarke@flinders.edu.au

Please address the email subject message as IAG COUNCIL NOMINATION.

Should an election be required, ballot papers will be emailed to financial members, who will have until Monday June 27th, 2022 to return them by email to Professor Beverley Clarke (Vice President, Immediate Past President).

Results will be reported at the General Meeting in Armidale.
