The fantastic news for Australia is that Phil McManus has been re-elected as Australia's representative and IGU Vice President for the period 2026-2030. There will be a meeting prior to the Istanbul IGU Regional Conference in August with the current executive, then the new executive will meet briefly following the conference, mainly to thank the outgoing members and welcome new members.
Phil has done an incredible amount to support the Australian Geographic community at local institutional, state, national and international levels, including previous roles on the IGU as Vice President (2022-2026), and Treasurer (2025-ongoing).
The Australian Academy of Sciences National Committee for Geographic Sciences, and the IAG Council, join me in congratulating Phil!
